Originally called Hawk's Park, the community was established in 1871. Within fifteen years it had 115 permanent residents and was a favorite of northerners who would winter in the area. By 1925 the community adopted the more descriptive name of Edgewater and was beginning to grow in earnest. Today, Edgewater encompasses 7,040 acres with just over 17,000 residents, still a small town by most standards. And it is home to many award-winning businesses and companies that lead the field in their industries.
